I love travel. I've run with the bulls in Pamplona, hiked the Inka trail to Machu Picchu, visited the Taj Mahal in India, Petra in Jordan, the pyramids of Giza, and I've been diving in the Red Sea but my bucket list just keeps getting longer and longer.

I was raised on cello lessons but guitar took over years later when my Dad taught me Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice". I write songs and enjoy recording and making beats. Lately I reach for my mandolin more than anything else and because of that I have a new interest in bluegrass.

I love the outdoors. I'm an Eagle Scout and enjoy any excuse to get together with friends around camp fires, kayaks, ski slopes, and craft beer. This is a photo with my brothers before hitting the back bowls at Vail.

My daughter is as smart and creative as they come. She is a vegetarian who likes to snowboard, she is hilarious when she performs improv, sews outfits and costumes, writes screenplays, directs films for her school film program and 48 hour film festivals. She has even filmed some smaller weddings for me.

I listen to audiobooks while I'm editing photos. I usually get through 40 per year. I'm always on the look out for book recommendations and love to be introduced to great new music too.

My wife is an artist and an Emmy Award winning writer and art educator who has spent years working for museums and public televison. She makes a wonderful companion in travel and in life.

Now that I'm in my 40's my mid-life crisis has included joining adult softball and soccer leagues, playing more tennis, and doing cross-fit workouts but still no sports cars.

I grew up on a farm in Santa Fe, TN and went to Father Ryan High School. I went to college at Ole Miss, MTSU and UT Knoxville where I took a photojournalism class that changed my life. I worked for several years at Vanderbilt's Innovation Center before going full time with photography.

I write down a lot of story ideas and lately I've been binging books on the craft with hopes of writing my own novel someday soon. I'm trying to read all of the Pulitzer Prize winning novels in hopes that that level of writing starts to rub off on me but these books are so good that I'm going to have to give myself permission to write something bad first. I'll have a lot of ideas and projects to choose from if I ever get to a point in life where I have more free time. For now, I'm so grateful to have a career that allows me to meet so many interesting people and have so many unusual experiences that will no doubt fuel my imagination for my newest hobby.

In case you still don't feel like you know me; below is a little photo dump with random selfies and photos with family. I mixed in a few that go way back to when Sam was just my girlfriend.
